Tall case brass dial clock, 1790.

Walnut tall-case astronomical clock. The hood has a molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved roundels with three urn-and-spire finials on plinths, free-standing turned columns with brass capitals and bases at the front corners, and a glazed door with a circular opening. Waist with cove molding at the top and a case door with a shaped top. Paneled base with cove molding at the top, ogee molding at the bottom and supported on straight bracket feet. Engraved circular dial with roman hour numerals above the center arbor, arabic minute numerals, an engraved months and days of the year, signs of the zodiac, and seven "planets" of the pre-Copernican system engraved at the outer edge. Astronomical dial below center arbor with moon face and stars on a revolving blued-steel dial, a planispheric map of the northern hemisphere, and a register indicating the hours of sunrise and sunset. Dial is engraved "John Fisher York Town." Thirty five day movement.
